2011 Community Action Award

Hot on the heels of the 2010 award, comes the programme for 2011. Although the fine points have still to be decided, applications will be able to be completed on-line late September or early October 2010. Doña is well known for her appearances in TV productions such as Family Affairs, Casualty, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Gimme Gimme Gimme and William & Mary. The popular Jamaican actress has also appeared in a number of feature films and is a regular on the West End stage.

Ellen is an actress best known for her recurring role on the hit Channel 4 comedy series Teachers, and has guest starred in Doctor Who, Casualty, Bremner Bird and Fortune, The Jury, Holby City, William and Mary, The Bill and in films that include Basic Instinct 2, Some Voices, Wonderland and The Secret Laughter of Women.

Anthony has been closely associated with the Hair and Beauty Industry for over 25 years, and has been part of the development of the Creme of Nature Brand both here in the UK and Africa. He is the Regional Manager for Europe and West Africa for The Colomer Group and was part of the original team behind the Creme of Nature Community Action Award.

Shirley is founder of Black UK Publications, an award winning social enterprise publishing a number of online and print titles, addressing the UK’s BME secular and Christian audiences with titles such as Keep The Faith magazine, the Black UK Online website and the Black UK Christian Directory. Shirley is the former CEO of the Voice Newspaper Group.

Beverley Ejimofo, the Director of Insight Development and Consultancy Limited and Be Totally You, has had a wide and multifaceted career in Local Government, Community affairs, the NHS and Charity work. Allied with her qualifications as a health professional and educationalist, she has a unique perspective on training and facilitation in both large and small organizations and for individuals. She is passionate about her work and is committed to making and being a change in her local community.
